How to Fit Plywood Van Racking Safely

How to Fit Plywood Van Racking Safely

Take your time when fitting plywood van racking. A careful dry fit, clean drilling and suitable fixings help the unit sit securely in the load area.

Basic fitting process

  1. Unpack and dry-fit the panels before gluing or screwing anything together.
  2. Check that the finished unit clears wheel arches, side doors, rear doors and trim.
  3. Pre-drill fixing holes to reduce the chance of splitting the plywood.
  4. Apply PVA glue to recommended joints during assembly.
  5. Secure the racking to suitable fixing points using appropriate brackets and screws.

Safety checks

Before drilling into the van, check what is behind the panel. Avoid wiring, fuel lines, brake lines and structural areas where drilling is unsuitable. If you are unsure, use a professional fitter.
