Ford Transit Custom MK1 Shallow Side Rack - Nearside | CONTOUR
Add organised storage with a slim 190 mm overall depth. Three tiers of divided shelves keep fittings and everyday essentials visible while taking up less load-space width.
Built for an organised working van
- 21 divided plywood storage compartments for small tools, fittings and consumables.
- 12 mm plywood with exposed layered edges: choose unfinished natural plywood or black hex phenolic plywood.
- Fixed shelves and mortice-and-tenon joints; shaped bin dividers follow the shelf profile. The lower front support rails also slot into the side panels.
- Bin shelves have front and rear retaining lips. Tool-case trays have an open front and a rear lip only. Full-height end panels and an open back.
- Supplied flat pack with 3.5 x 30 mm assembly screws and illustrated instructions.

Usable shelf dimensions
Tiers are numbered from bottom to top. Width is per divided compartment or per case tray; depth is the usable shelf floor between the bin lips, or from the open case-tray front to its rear lip. The wall contour means shelf depths vary by tier.
| Module | Tier | Compartments | Clear width | Floor depth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M1 | 1 | 7 | 111.2 mm | 152.9 mm |
| M1 | 2 | 7 | 111.2 mm | 33 mm |
| M1 | 3 | 7 | 111.2 mm | 71.8 mm |
For case storage, compare the complete case dimensions, including handles and latches, with the matching build sheet. Case trays have no front lip, so each case can slide out independently.
Fitting your van
Minor trimming may be required to suit your van's ply lining, wheel-arch boxing, floor build-up, carpet or other interior finishes. Check the overall size, wheel-arch clearance, bulkhead position and door openings against your own van before ordering. The shaped profile is based on our first-generation Transit Custom contour; lining thickness and individual conversions can change the fit. This range is for the MK1 body, not the new-shape MK2.
Dry-fit the panels before final assembly. Pre-drill screw holes with a 2 mm drill bit, then assemble using the supplied 3.5 x 30 mm screws. Secure the finished racking to suitable vehicle fixing points; vehicle mounting fixings are selected separately for your installation.
What's included
The CNC-cut plywood panels for the complete pictured layout, the required assembly and adjoining-module screws, and the customer assembly guide with the matching build sheet. Supplied flat pack for self-assembly. Tools, tool cases, loose contents, additional finishing products and vehicle mounting fixings are not included. Product images are renders of this layout; natural plywood grain and supplier hex emboss may vary.
Choose your material
Natural plywood: an unfinished wood surface with exposed laminated edges.
Black hex phenolic plywood: a black hex-patterned exterior, smooth black shelf surfaces and inward-facing carcass panels, and exposed natural plywood edges. The board has one hex face and one smooth reverse; internal dividers show one of each. Both options use 12 mm stock and are supplied flat pack.
This layout has 1 bay. Black hex adds £50 to the natural-plywood price (£50 per bay). A bay is one adjoining rack section, not an individual shelf compartment. The material selector shows the complete price for your chosen finish.

Fit check Make sure it fits before you order Guide
- Measure the usable side-wall width. Check clear space from the bulkhead area towards the rear doors, allowing for trim, tie-down points and any existing lining.
- Measure available height from the van floor. Make sure the selected height clears roof ribs, windows, handles and anything mounted on the side wall.
- Check the depth works in your layout. Confirm it will not clash with doors, tools, wheel arch position or the space you need down the centre of the van.
