What a flat-pack furniture kit gives you

A flat-pack kit supplies the parts for a defined furniture design that you assemble yourself. You choose the dimensions and layout from the listed range, rather than starting by drawing and cutting every panel. The finished unit still needs to be checked against your van interior and installed appropriately for that particular conversion.

The current 888Camper range includes 16 open shelf sizes, eight overhead locker widths, two kitchen units and one compact cupboard. These are separate products, so you can select only the pieces your layout needs. They are not a complete van conversion package with flooring, lining, beds, services or appliances included.

Understand the material and construction of each range

The shelves and overhead lockers use 18 mm plywood. NOMAD cupboards and kitchen units use 15 mm plywood. All have a natural wood appearance and open backs. Overhead lockers also have open tops, while the shelf design is open at the top with a curved retaining front.

These construction details matter during planning. An open back needs to work with the surrounding lining and whatever sits behind the unit. Check the product drawings and renders alongside the overall dimensions so you know what the kit will look like after assembly. The renders illustrate the design; natural wood grain can vary between the panels you receive.

Assembly hardware and soft-close hinges are included

All kits include assembly hardware and an illustrated build guide. Camper products with doors also include all hardware needed to build the unit, including soft-close hinges. For the overhead lockers, the listed fittings include brackets, hinges and mounting plates, door catches and strike plates, screws and threaded inserts.

Vehicle-specific mounting fittings are separate because securing furniture into a conversion is different from joining the furniture panels together. Tools, appliances and accessories are also separate. Check the individual product description for the complete kit contents and any additional requirements before scheduling your build.

Plan an assembly sequence that fits your workspace

Before beginning, read the supplied guide and identify the panels and fittings for the particular product. Set aside a suitable work area and keep each kit's parts together if you are building several units. Comparing the labelled parts with the guide before assembly helps you spot a question while the pieces are still easy to inspect.

Think through how the assembled furniture will reach its intended position. Check door openings, existing seats and other furniture along that route. A unit may fit the final floor plan but be awkward to move through an already finished interior. Use the product-specific instructions for assembly rather than assuming every shelf, cupboard and locker goes together in the same way.

Build a furniture shortlist before you order

Start with the largest item in your plan, often a kitchen pod, and draw its footprint. Add door-opening space, then assess whether a shelf, narrow cupboard or overhead locker solves any remaining storage need. Leave enough room to use the van in both daytime and sleeping arrangements.

Make a list of the chosen products, their dimensions and the objects intended for each. Review current prices on the product pages and delivery options for your postcode at checkout. If an access measurement is uncertain, contact us with the product name and a measured sketch. Clarifying a dimension early is more useful than ordering a larger kit simply to maximise storage.

Before you choose your furniture

  • Choose each kit by its listed dimensions and construction.
  • Review the illustrated guide and kit contents before assembly.
  • Check the route for moving the assembled unit into its position.
  • Plan vehicle mounting separately from the included assembly hardware.
