Where we use 15 mm and 18 mm plywood
The NOMAD 1100 kitchen pod, NOMAD 900 Slim kitchen unit and NOMAD 300 cupboard use 15 mm plywood. The open storage shelves and overhead lockers use 18 mm plywood. These thicknesses describe the current product designs, and each product page sets out the matching overall dimensions.
Material thickness is only one part of a furniture specification. The panel layout, compartment shape, open areas and intended mounting arrangement also matter. Choose between the products by what they need to store and where they will fit, rather than assuming the thicker panel option automatically makes a different type of unit the better choice.
Natural wood appearance across the furniture range
The furniture has a natural plywood appearance, including visible plywood edges where shown in the design. The product images are 3D renders that illustrate the proportions, panels and storage layout. Wood grain will vary, so use those images to understand the design rather than expecting an identical grain pattern on every supplied panel.
A consistent material appearance can help you bring shelves, cupboards and kitchen units into the same interior plan. Compare the visible proportions too: a 250 mm-high overhead locker reads differently from a tall narrow cupboard, even when both have natural wood fronts. Place the main furniture shapes on your sketch before deciding how many units to combine.
Check the construction behind the front view
A front image can make different units appear more alike than they are. All of these furniture designs have open backs. The overhead lockers also have open tops, and the shelves have open tops with shaped retaining fronts. NOMAD kitchen units have plain worktops with no sink or appliance cutouts.
Look at the rear and interior product renders to understand those differences. An open-back cabinet relies on the surrounding layout being considered when it is positioned. The measurements given are outside dimensions; usable cupboard openings and internal spaces depend on the panel arrangement. Ask for clarification if a particular object must fit a particular compartment.
Flat-pack panels and the fittings to assemble them
The furniture is supplied as flat-pack kits with pre-cut plywood panels, assembly hardware and illustrated build guides. Every current camper product with doors includes all hardware required to build the unit, including soft-close hinges. Open shelves have no doors or hinges.
Review the kit contents for the product you select. Vehicle-specific mounting fittings and tools are separate, as are appliances and accessories. For the overhead lockers, finishing consumables are also separate. If you have a particular coating or finish in mind, confirm the supplied surface details and the coating manufacturer's preparation requirements before buying finishing materials.
Choose the design first, then complete the layout
Start with a practical brief: a worktop with kitchen cupboards, a narrow cabinet, visible shelf storage or an overhead locker. Follow the relevant guide to compare that product family's dimensions. The kitchen pod guide compares the two worktop footprints, while the shelving guide explains the 200 mm and 300 mm formats.
Once the main pieces are selected, check the complete arrangement against the finished interior. Include door movements, access to existing equipment and how you use the space with the bed made. Keep the product specifications beside your sketch, and contact us about any missing measurement before committing to a size-dependent furniture order.
Before you choose your furniture
- Check the plywood thickness listed for the particular furniture design.
- Review front, rear and interior renders as well as overall dimensions.
- Account for open backs and, on lockers, open tops.
- Confirm kit contents and any finishing requirements for your project.
Your questions answered
Which units use 15 mm plywood?
The NOMAD 1100 kitchen pod, NOMAD 900 Slim kitchen unit and NOMAD 300 cupboard use 15 mm plywood. Our storage shelves and overhead lockers use 18 mm plywood.
Will the wood grain match the product images?
The product images are 3D renders showing the natural plywood design. Real wood grain varies, so individual panels will not necessarily match the illustrated grain pattern.
Are the furniture kits vehicle-specific?
Choose these products by the listed dimensions and your finished interior measurements. A particular van make or model does not by itself confirm fitment. Vehicle-specific mounting fittings are separate from the assembly kit.
